For whatever reason on Fanduel there are various categories of this prop but this cheapest option was the category named “Over/Under 0.5 runs scored 2nd Inning”. They have multiple options but that category is consistently the cheapest. So why do I love this bet? Both the Cubs and Pirates are yet to put up a 2nd inning run and the only team who have been involved in a game with a 2nd inning run were the the Pirates on opening day. Each day obviously comes individually with it’s own battles but I love that the middle/end of these orders haven’t produced early in games.
Kyle Hendricks and Zach Thompson are on the bump. Hendricks really impressed me on opening day with only allowing 5 hits and 1 run through 5.1 innings pitched. Hendricks had the Brewers threaten him in the 2nd but he kept his composure and got through it run free. Hendricks should be facing some variation of Suzuki, Heyward, Wisdom, and Villar. Those guys are a combined 1-5 lifetime against him which isn’t saying much but the lack of at-bats against him should play into our favor.
NRSI’s are a ton of fun and something we will continue to look at. It’s important not to blindly bet them though and to really pick and choose your spots where the bet makes sense. This game has an 8.5 total which is a good sign that it should be slightly lower scoring than your typical game and 2nd innings have always been lower scoring than 1sts. These bets have been kind to us so far and let's hope they continue to, who’s with me?
