New series are starting today, and my focus is on the matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies as the Cubs travel to Coors Field. Let's break it down.
ANALYSIS

Colorado Rockies vs Chicago Cubs Best Bet: Can the Cubs Stay Hot?

The Cubs have gotten off to a great start this year and I am not sure anyone expected them to look this good early on. They are being carried offensively by recent free-agent acquisition Seiya Suzuki who already has three home runs and is hitting 400 through five games so far.

What has been even more surprising is how effective the Cub's pitching has been to this point. Through the first four games, they only allowed 10 total runs as they went 3-1 in those games. In their last game against the Pirates, however, they got tagged for six and the bats went cold as they lost 6-2. I think the Cubs' pitching is due for even more regression as they head out to hitter-friendly Coor's Field in Colorado.

The Rockies have also always played better at Coors. Most teams in the MLB have somewhat of a home-field advantage but I feel like the Rockies have one of the larger advantages in this category in the entire league. We saw this last year as the Rockies were significantly better at home than on the road and have continued that trend this year as they took two out of three at home in their opening series against the Dodgers, who are presumed to be the best team in Baseball.

Another thing to consider for this game tonight is the line dynamic as I mentioned in my previous article. The Rockies are small home favorites with Kyle Freeland on the mound who got hit around big time in his opening start. Only one appearance on the season but he comes into this game with a 12.27 ERA... not good, and yet they are still favored. Justin Steele takes the mound for the Cubs who had an excellent opening start as he did not allow a run against the Brewers through five innings and only allowed four hits.

This line dynamic of a team being favored with the perception of a much worse starting pitcher is a big indicator to bet on the FAVORITE in these types of matchups. With that being said, I am going to back Freeland and the Rockies as I am rolling with Rockies F5 ML at -118 for 1U as my most confident MLB pick of the night.
