The Brewers are a team that came into this season with a lot of expectations and have not lived up to them so far, but that’s okay because it’s still early. They are just 5-5 through their first 10 games, which isn’t bad. But, their offense has really let them down so far and they have struggled against bad teams, including the Cubs and Orioles.

The Brewers only have one guy hitting over .300 through 10 games and only 3 guys hitting over .250. Everyone is cold at the same time right now, which is the worst case scenario for them. Their pitching is elite and their offensive production only needs to be moderate for them to be successful, but I think this is a good bounce-back spot for them.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

The Brewers finally showed some life at the plate in their series with St. Louis, and while they tied the series 2-2, they were able to break out in a few of those games, scoring 5 and 6 runs against Wainwright and a solid Cardinals staff.

Tonight, the Brewers take on the Pirates and face Zach Thompson who is a promising young prospect. Thompson pitched fairly well in his opening start of the season but got hit around a little bit as he allowed 5 hits and a walk in just 4 innings of work.

Thompson can be a bit wild at times as he is a power pitcher, and if the Brewers can work counts and get good pitches to hit, I think this will be a solid game for them offensively. The line dynamic here is another reason I like the Brewers as Eric Lauer is on the hill for them with a significantly higher ERA than Thompson, yet the Brewers are still priced as extremely heavy favorites.

I would be a bit more scared if the Brewers were priced in the -140 range, but they are getting a strong line from the books tonight even with a bottom-of-the-rotation starter. With that being said, I am rolling with Brewers F5 -0.5 at -108 for 1U as my most confident MLB play of the day as I think the Brewers get off to a good start through the first 5 innings of this contest.
