When you first look at this Cubs lineup no one really jumps off the page at you with fame or notoriety but collectively as a group, they have been clutch with RISP and hitting for power as well. Patrick Wisdom is one of their biggest power threats as he burst onto the scene last year hitting 28 homers in just 106 games. He’s gotten off to a slow start but I’m sure he’ll have 25 homers and 80 RBIs by the end of the season. The main question I have though is can the Cubs keep this up? Is this going to be an all-season type of offensive explosion from them or is it just a hot start? I think the Cubs are going to cool off eventually and no better time for that than today
The Rays were scheduled to start Josh Fleming but now it looks like they are going with an opener approach. The Rays got off to a solid start this season against the Orioles but have since struggled in their series against the A’s, White Sox, and the opening game against the Cubs. The Rays simply have not been hitting lately and have really been struggling to score runs. Over their last eight games, they have only scored more than two runs twice… which is simply not going to get the job done.
The Rays have a solid pitching staff as always and their pitching is really what has kept them in games so far. I think the Rays' offense is due for some positive regression and I also think the Cub’s starter for tonight, Justin Steele, is due for some negative regression after a solid opening two starts to the season. With that being said, I am rolling with Rays F5 ML at -115 for 1U as my most confident MLB play of the night as I think the Rays will get off to a solid start here and tag Steele for some early runs.
