Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Robbie Ray got hit around a little bit on opening day by Texas allowing three runs (two earned) on a short pitch count. 4 1/3 outing. Outside of that game though he has dominated this team; in 73 at-bats has conceded just ten hits and four walks while striking out 30. The Rangers are slashing just .137/.182/.284 for an incredibly low team OPS of .466 against him.
I am not saying that he is going to be able to keep dominating them in every outing and despite the slow start I like Texas; they added some strong talent in the offseason and were robbed of a game already this season. With that said, however, they still are not clicking on all cylinders and find themselves sitting 2-7 on the season. They will finish much closer to, if not sneak above .500 this season but that is giving them a lot of time, I do not think it happens tonight, and feel like Seattle gets going here.
I love their squad this season; they are not my World Series favorite, but I think they finished strong and did great things in the off-season to prepare for a strong showing this campaign. In my opinion, Houston will win the division; other than that the second seat is wide open for Seattle, the Angels, or even one of the other two squads in the division to sneak in there. Notice I said sneak. In a normal world, this is a race between Seattle and the Angels and I think this Mariners squad this season is going to win the games they need to win to put themselves where they need to be.
I would love if they still had Kyle Seager though.
