San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction: Will Vladimir Gutierrez Shutdown the Padres' Lineup?

Life is all about finding diamonds in the rough. Everyone knows that. There was a story once about a couple walking on the beach in Florida when they saw what looked like a pile of trash wrapped in seaweed. Upon further inspection, it ended up being multiple bails of marijuana. We're talking thousands of pounds. Enough to sell for some quick cash as well as keep for personal consumption. That's what I call finding a diamond in the rough. Something that doesn't look like much but literally ends up changing your life. Kind of like the bet I found for 4:10pm ET today. On the surface, it looks like an idiotic move. But upon further inspection, it could be something. This could be our bail of marijuana people!

San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds Picks

We're back at FanDuel because they have what we want. Escalators. Anytime I can get +280 for a guy to strike out five guys, I want the opportunity. Especially if we're talking Padres. If you can't play at FanDuel, then DraftKings is offering 3.5 at +115. I know it's not +260 but it's still plus money. So it's a die bag and not a bail. You still found something here.

I think this guy could be something decent. Not Nolan Ryan but better than a guy the books hang a 3.5 on for plus money. He's a comeback story too. The guy was suspended for 80 games back in 2020 for testing positive for Stanozolol. On the streets, we call it Winstrol and it's a pretty aggressive road. I always say, if you're not cheating, you're not trying so there's that. The important thing to remember is Gutierrez is clean now (probably) and has injected life into his career since the suspension. Hats off to him for that.

The haters are going to say that he hasn't struck out five guys in a game this season. Those haters are right. But what they won't tell you is that he whiffed four Atlanta Braves like it was nothing in his first start this season. If he does that today, we're in the money. In his other start, he fanned three Dodgers. All in the same inning. The thing about the Dodgers is they've only struck out 51 times in 227 plate appearances against righties this season. It's hard to strike those guys out.

Gutierrez gets the San Diego Padres today which is just a better matchup. On the season, only five teams have struck out more against right-handed pitchers. Will Myers, Luke Voit, and Trent Grisham are all 30+% strikeout guys vs right-handers. Jorge Alfaro could be catching today (he caught MacKenzie Gore last time) and he's a 53.3% whiff guy. I think this could be the most perfect move of the day. It's basically the same thing as finding a bail of marijuana on the beach.
