Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction: Is Joe Ryan the Real Deal?

Royals vs. Twins Line Movement

Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction

For the fans of the Minnesota Twins, there hasn't been much to get excited about. However, with Joe Ryan on the mound, fans can have a little bit of enjoyment. Ryan might be the future for the Twins.

The young rookie pitcher got the Opening Day start and just threw six innings against the Red Sox in his last start while earning seven strikeouts. He also walked none and allowed just one earned run off a solo home run in that game.

Ryan has earned a high amount of strikeouts and has limited walks very well dating back to last season. He's now taking on a Royals lineup that has been just as bad as the Twins. Kansas City, dating back to last season, has a .147 ISO and wOBA of .286 against righties. That's terrible for a lineup with plenty of notable names.

On the other hand, it'll be Zack Greinke on the mound for the Royals. He's everything but young. Greinke is a veteran pitcher who has a 4.54 xFIP dating back to last season. He's also watched his strikeout numbers decrease and has been awful against righties, allowing a wOBA of .346 and ISO of .212 in his last 439 plate appearances to righties.

The Twins won't have a whole bunch of righties in the lineup but maybe this is the spot where Carlos Correa can bust out of his slump. He's a righty that has had success against righties dating back to last season.

Overall, neither lineup is all that great. But the Twins match up better and have the rising ace in comparison to the declining ace. Grab the Twins on the moneyline as they look to salvage the series.
