MLB Tuesday's Best Bets: Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies, Rangers vs Astros, and More
Well guys today is the first day this season that I am officially treating the MLB as I would normally wager it and every other sport; that does not mean diving headfirst into things here but now that the season is getting going, things are settling down and the outlook improves, so do our reads.
Confidence can only be so strong when It comes to baseball (it is hands down the most unpredictable sport with such a long season and so many variable-dependent factors/contingencies to worry about that I will not even begin); with that said, there are still plenty of excellent spots daily and that confidence in those spots only grows stronger as the season progresses. We are now effectively a tad over 1/10 of the way into the season with most teams having played 16-17 games by now.
I have some puck this evening as well and have more to write there but I love this board so I am going to tap in on a few games here and keep it short and sweet (actually this time.)
Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies
The over has hit in four of the last five meetings between these two clubs and neither have a bullpen that is all that. Both offenses rank within the top 10 for runs scored this season and are very capable and probable to give them up as well.
The Phillies have underperformed and need to get going again; German Marquez might be just what the doctor ordered. They have lit him up for 35 base knocks on 94 AB’s slashing .372/.404/.536. This one could go the other way if Zach Elfin throws a perfect game but as long as he does not, I think we smash this total.
Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies Pick
- 2u - Colorado/Philadelphia o7.5 -131 (Bet $131 to win $100)
Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers
The over is just 3-2 in their last five meetings but they scored a combined 45 runs in those games falling just a run short of the total in each of those meetings. Both Hearn and Odorizzi are pitchers we have faded (successfully) this season and while they are big leaguers for a reason and can easily throw well tonight the odds are against them here.
These lineups see each other often and score a lot when they do; neither arm has a win this season or an ERA under 7. The roof will be open at Globe life field this evening where there is proven data backing increased offensive production; open roof during the day is not as solid but at night is perfect.

Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers Pick
- 2u - Houston/Texas o8.5 -145 (Bet $145 to win $100)
Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays
Kevin Gausman has shredded this lineup; through 144 AB’s he has struck out 41 and holding the Red Sox to a lowly .208/.289/313. So is this a potential pitcher’s duel you ask? No, not at all. Nick Pivetta has gotten killed by this lineup and last season conceded 18 hits on 59 AB’s for a .316/.370/.576. This one is at home for Toronto who 1) did not get to play their last season 2) are playing excellent baseball while scoring in bunches and 3) hate the Red Sox.
Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Pick
- 2u - Toronto TT o4.5 -114 (Bet $114 to win $100)
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Arizona Diamondbacks
I do not mean this disrespectfully or to be a jab at Arizona here; any team can win a ball game on any night, but I just don’t see it happening. Different pitchers but similar history, same lineups, same red got LA team. Refer back to last night’s article for more on this series; Dodgers win and Gonsoulin throws the ball well here.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Arizona Diamondbacks Pick
- 2u - LAD -1.5 -131 (Bet $131 to win $100)
MLB Parlay
- 2u - Dodgers ML/Blue Jays ML +118 (Bet $100 to win $118)
