Essentially all we need is San Francisco to lead by at least one or more after five innings and then to win outright. It’s not often you see a -275 favorite this early in the season and we’re significantly reducing the juice with the only added element of leading through five innings. I feel confident that could happen with an ace like Rodon on the bump.
This games total is only 6.5 which shows an ultimate sign of respect for Daulton Jeffries on the other side. I by no means thinks he gets destroyed today, I think this game should be very low scoring and a snooze fest but he should allow at least one or two runs in this one against a hot Giants team. Jeffries has looked incredibly solid in his minimal MLB action but this is one his tougher tests against a 12-5 team on the road. Often times when I see inexperienced pitchers against established stars they try to do too much knowing they won’t get much run support and there’s a chance he allows a early run thinking too much.
As long as Rodon is healthy I’ve always loved backing him. Oakland bats .202 against lefties this year and now faces one of the best in the world. I feel like there’s no way win this game outright so it comes down our first 5 bet so we’re getting w -180 discount to -107, I’ll take that 100/100 times. I’m cool with this game ending 1-0 as long as San Francisco scores the run in the first five. We’re not going to overthink here, Rodon is a wagon and we will ride until the wheels fall off.
