ANALYSIS

Tuesday MLB Player Prop Pick: It's Time to YOLO With Josiah Gray

Everybody wants to eat. Nobody wants to hunt. That's just a fact. Here's the thing though. We could get mad about it or we could just accept it. Embrace it even. Lean into it. How? By hunting for a move that's at least +300. Then sharing it with the people (doesn't make me a hero). Breaking of the bread if you will. With everybody. I've always said, why go regular hunting when you can go big game hunting? It makes sense when you think about it. Lucky for us, tonight we have a matchup that big game hunters such as myself dream about. We've got a guy with a cannon going against a team that strikes out like it's their job. The books aren't quite sure what to do about this situation so here we are with a big ass kill just staring at us. We have to get down on this if we want anyone to respect us.

Does it feel good to go after Josiah Gray to get seven strikeouts just to pull a profit? Not really. But it damn sure beats laying -132 for him to get six which is the line at FanDuel. Neither DraftKings nor BetMGM has even shown up in this market yet but when they get there, I bet they will post 5.5 for -140 or something similar. It's disgusting.

Here's the thing about this kid they call Josiah Gray. He's filthy. He makes guys look like they're trying to hit a BB in the dark. It's crazy. We saw flashes of it last season when he went double-digit whiffs on the world champion, Atlanta Braves. Anyone with eyeballs and a functioning brain knew this kid was going to be a problem. Now he's coming off an eight-strikeout performance against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It's his time.

The haters are going to go right to the fact that the Arizona Diamondbacks can't hit for anything and as usual, they're right. Also, as usual, they forgot that the Miami Marlins can't hit either. They've struck out 55 times in their last 170 at bats. We're talking little league status here.

I would bring up the fact that Gray faced the Marlins twice last season and recorded at least seven strikeouts in each game. But I won't. It's not needed. What we should talk about is the fact that Kyle Wright just fanned 11 of these fish the other day. I was going to wait until I saw a lineup but then I thought, why? Does it even matter? Gray could get this the first time through based on the fact that almost every Marlin in the lineup could be a 30% whiff guy. I say LFG!
