We’ve enjoyed betting the first five innings but we haven’t dived into the first three innings yet. On Fanduel you can find this under “innings” and then “Three Innings Total Runs”. This bet is also available on DK/Caesars but I’m seeing a price tag closer to -140 which I’m still okay paying. My initial lean was the under for the first five innings but I see that at a 4.0 and I see more value here. You could argue that having two more runs of insurance for just two innings is a worthwhile trade but it’s no secret that pitchers do worse their second time through the lineup than the first and we could avoid some of the better bats' second plate appearances.
Ohtani and Plesac are on the bump today for their respective teams and are both guys who I trust. Ohtani had one outlier game where he looked brutal but otherwise has looked like the MVP we know and love. Plesac has been outstanding this year and has only allowed one run in the first three innings through his first three games. Plesac has a great history vs these LA bats as he’s only allowed five hits in 24 at-bats. Ohtani doesn’t have much of a history against these Guardian bats but I think he should be good to get through the rotation smoothly and hopefully not have to face Jose Ramirez a second time until the fourth inning.
These two teams have faced off the last two nights and have only scored eight runs total in two games. The bats are cold and this is the best pitching matchup we have yet to see in the series, it all adds up. The cool part about this one is it starts late but we’re only betting the first three innings so we won’t be stuck staying up until the late hours of the night sweating out our pick. If the first three innings aren't available to you for whatever reason I still like the first five but just not as much. I understand this is a weird bet but I'm a weird guy, we’re on a 10-win streak for a reason we’ve gotta zig when others zag.
