Wednesday's Early MLB Looks: Watch Out For Carlos Carrrasco, Dylan Cease

We've got daytime action today which means I may need some daytime action. Sometimes we want to wait to bet MLB though. I know it sounds crazy, but that's the move sometimes. It's not a long wait, it's really just until the lineups drop. Once you get a look at the names on the list, you'll know if a pitcher is in play or not. It's that easy. If you're familiar with the practice of counting, you can do it. That's all it is, counting. I've gone through the games and already have crossed some off. They simply aren't moves unless you want to bet an under (loser). But there are a couple of moves that stand out if we just get a little help from the managers. People helping people, it's powerful stuff (Wedding Crashers).

Carlos Carrrasco - New York Mets

Before we start, I'm kind of weary of this guy. Sure he's made us some coin already but we're talking Carlos Carrasco here. If you play this game long enough, he will get caught with his hand in your pocket. If we're being honest I played him once in DFS like five years ago and he didn't last the first so I've held it against him ever since. He's probably a great guy. Still, people don't forget (Super Bad). On top of that, he's turned in a few good starts but they were against the Diamondbacks and Giants who are both top five in most strikeouts in MLB.

Here's the thing. Carrasco has the Cardinals today and over the last week, they've whiffed 69 times in 231 at-bats. That's horrible. These guys are hitting .195 in that span. Carrasco will need to drop six of them to get us to the plus money heaven but I think he could if he sees the right ones. Edmundo Sosa, Paul DeJong, Lars Nootbaar, Albert Pujols, Tyler O'Neill, Brendan Donovan, and Nolan Arenado are all 30% whiff guys over the last week. If enough of them are in the lineup today, Carrasco could be in play at 6+ for +172 at FanDuel.

Dylan Cease - Chicago White Sox

I'm a Dylan Cease guy so don't be mad but maybe an under could be in order here? First off, we need eight to get home and we're only getting +106 if he does it. He's done it twice so far this season but he only got to eight and those games were against the Tigers and Rays. Now he gets the Royals who will no doubt be more of a challenge. No team in MLB has struck out less than Kansas City this season. Feels important to know that.

Cease could mow these guys down but I don't know if he gets to eight with the right mix from Kansas City. The guys I don't want to see in the lineup are Edward Olivares, Carlos Santana, Michael A. Taylor, Andrew Benintendi, Bobby Witt, and Nicky Lopez. If all six of those guys are somehow crammed in, I think we have an under on our hands here people. Do with that as you wish.
