Los Angeles Angels vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction: Can the Hot Hitting Continue for the Angels?

We've been questioning the Angels forever. We've been asking every single season why the Angels would just waste Mike Trout's career away. Then the Angels got Shohei Ohtani and you just wondered why the Angels didn't care about winning.

But it seems like things have finally changed this season. The Angels are 12-7 on the season and have an elite offense with much better pitching. Today, the Angels will take on the Guardians after scoring nine runs in last night's game. Can the Angels continue their offensive explosion? Angels vs. Guardians Line Movement

Los Angeles Angels vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

The Guardians will take on Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitcher, Reid Detmers. To start the season, Detmers has a 22.6% strikeout rate with 7.5% walks. His xFIP is a bit high at 4.40 but he’s inducing 47.2% ground balls and allowing fewer than 20% line drives. That's ultimately going to get the job done in the MLB.

In the Guardians lineup, there are, again, just two players that have hit well against lefties so far this season. Jose Ramirez has a .400 ISO with a wOBA of .464 while Owen Miller has a .444 ISO with a wOBA of .484. Steven Kwan also has solid numbers but he's questionable with a hamstring injury and will likely be out of the lineup. Other than those batters, we're just seeing a whole lot of nothing for the Guardians' lineup.

Detmers has struggled against righties to begin the year, allowing a .379 wOBA and ISO of .222. He's likely going to face eight righties in the order, however, again, most of those righties really haven't proven anything so far this season.

On the other hand, the Angels will take on Cal Quantrill of the Guardians. Despite Quantrill having a 3.94 ERA with a 1-0 record, he hasn’t been all that great. He has who has a 6.49 xFIP with 9.2% strikeouts and 10.8% walks. Quantrill has earned just 34% ground balls and 28% line drives to start the season.

Yes, Quantrill has more walks than strikeouts and has escaped damage on a ton of line drives while ultimately not getting a high amount of grounders or strikeouts.

The Angels have a .244 ISO and wOBA of .355 with the projected lineup. Los Angeles is also walking 13.1% of the time but rarely hitting line drives despite seven of the nine players hitting hard-hit balls.

Some of the batters to look out for include Taylor Ward, Mike Trout, Brandon Marsh, and Max Stassi along with Shohei Ohtani. The offense should fare much better against Quantrill in comparison to the Guardians against Detmers.
