Year after year, the Yankees own the Orioles. This year will be no different.
The Orioles will send out Bruce Zimmermann, who is a left-handed pitcher that has seen a ton of success to start the year. This season, Zimmermann is 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA through three starts. He's allowed 12 hits in 15 innings while only giving up three runs (two earned) along with 16 strikeouts.
But I don't think that's going to last. Last season, Zimmerman had a 4.82 xFIP with 19.8% strikeouts and 7.9% walks. He also gave up 25.8% line drives and only induced about 41% grounders.
Zimmermann will also have to take on a Yankees lineup that has a .233 ISO and wOBA of .341 with its projected lineup against lefties this season. D.J. LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Gleyber Torres have all hit for high power numbers with high wOBA as well.
Meanwhile, the Yankees will send out Jameson Tallion who has really limited walks this year while also earning 22% strikeouts. Taillon is allowing some power this season but ultimately, the Orioles don't have much power in their lineup against righties.
The Orioles have combined for a .106 ISO with a wOBA of .262 against righties this season. Only Anthony Santander and Austin Hays have really made noise against righties throughout the start of the season.
With that said, take the Yankees -1 in the first five innings. The Yankees are going to pounce on Zimmerman today.
