Cardinals vs. Diamondbacks Line Movement

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

Left-handed Madison Bumgarner will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. He’s 0-1 on the year but has just a 1.00 ERA despite having a 1.22 WHIP. Bumgarner hasn’t allowed two runs all season and that’s likely going to change today. The analytics suggest that Bumgarner has been very lucky. The analytics also believe that the Cardinals will do some serious damage to Bumgarner today.

Madison Bumgarner has a 5.53 xFIP this season along with just 17.3% strikeouts and 13.3% walks. He’s only inducing 43.1% ground balls and has allowed over 21.5% line drives.

The Cardinals have a combined .261 ISO and wOBA of .396 with the projected lineup against lefties. St. Louis isn’t walking all that much but has limited strikeouts to 21.7% against lefties. The Cardinals are also hitting just 30.9% ground balls and 28.9% line drives against lefties to start the season.

Meanwhile, Adam Wainwright will take the hill for the Cardinals. He's another veteran pitcher that has more sustained success. He's 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA but is still striking out 24.2% of batters.

Arizona's projected lineup has a .140 ISO and wOBA of .276 against righties while the Cardinals' lineup has a .261 ISO and wOBA of .396 with its projected lineup against lefties to start the season.

I'll ride the Cardinals in the first five innings.
