Dodgers vs. Tigers Line Movement

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction

The Dodgers have not looked like the top team in the league over the last week as they have really struggled against the bottom feeders of the league including the D-backs and Tigers. Last night the Dodgers were -350 favorites and lost straight up to the Tigers who started a pitcher making his second big league start and gave up a homer to the first batter he faced. That would be the only run the Dodgers would score the entire game as they just couldn't push anything across for the next 9 innings.

They really struggled on the offensive end against the Diamondbacks and now it's carrying over to this series as well. Today, they will face E-Rod, a solid pitcher who has struggled with keeping the ball in the yard in 2022. He has already given up 3 homers on the season and part of that is because he has been struggling with his command and leaving too many pitches over the heart of the plate. He has also walked 8 batters in just 19 innings this season so he has had to navigate around a lot of traffic and think that will come back to bite him today against a very patient and experienced Dodger lineup. So, the overarching question for today is; Will the Dodgers offense continue to struggle? I do not believe so and think they are due for a breakout performance.

Another reason why I like the Dodgers today is that Walker Buehler is back on the bump coming off his best performance of the season. Buehler had struggled prior to that start and really put everything together as he threw a complete-game shutout and looked dominant against the Diamondbacks.

I also think Buehler is due for some positive regression at home as he has gotten hit pretty hard in both of his home starts this season as he has given up 13 hits and 5 runs in nearly 11 innings at home. Over the last 2 seasons, Buehler has been one of the best pitchers at home in all of baseball. In 2020 he tallied a 1.31 ERA at home and in 2021 he was 11-2 with a 2.05 ERA at home so it is safe to say that he is comfortable pitching in Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers are in nearly the exact same scenario when I backed them for the POD a few days ago as the series was on the line against the lowly Diamondbacks and could only manage 1 run in an embarrassing series loss to the D-backs. I have to imagine that is on their mind today as they are on the verge of losing back-to-back series to much inferior teams and think there will be an added edge and focus for them today that was absent last night. I think they took the Tigers for granted last night with Kershaw on the mound and the Tigers battled hard to stay in the game and blitzed them in the later innings.

I think it will be a different story today as I see the Dodgers starting fast and not looking back to take the series finale today. With that being said, I am rolling with Dodgers F5 -0.5 at -143 for 1U as my most confident MLB pick of the day as I think the Dodger's offense will finally wake up.
