1u - Josh Fleming Under 5.5 hits allowed (+122) (Bet $100 to Win $122)
*Odds Available at FanDuel at Time of Publishing*
I don’t want any of you to be confused. I don’t think Fleming is a great pitcher by any means. This bet could hit because he looks so bad in the first inning or two that he gets yanked early. He has such a short leash on the season and hasn’t surpassed more than 67 pitches. Getting plus odds on a prop that has hit in 3/4 seems cool to me. Now I get the counterpoint people could make, in his only start was the game he allowed 6+ hits. That is a valid point but his pitch counts remain very similar regardless of him starting or playing a middle relief role. I think there’s value here and he could end with 4 or 5 pretty easily and get pulled.
He faces off against Minnesota he doesn’t have much experience against him (6 at-bats to be exact). Most teams at this point in the season have substantial splits against lefties but Minnesota isn’t one of those teams, they don’t particularly crush left handed pitching. This bet could hit because he has the best game of his career or he throws his usual 60 pitches and gets shelled in the 2nd or 3rd and gets pulled. Tampa did use six pitchers yesterday but have shown that they have many guys they trust to eat innings for them.
Every projection I see has Fleming between 4 and 5 hits allowed which would be a cash either way, the plus odds are the cherry on top that make this a must bet. Only playing this for 1u because I’m not a Fleming believer and think a world where he allowed 6 hits in two innings is possible but if we make this same play 100 times I know we would profit so sticking with trusting the process and taking value where you see it. The MLB season is a grind and everyday presents different bet types and odds to go alongside them.
