I know this team has frustrated many. They came into this season as favorites to dominate the AL Central and have done far from that. At some point, though you know this team will get hot and they’ve looked improved the last few outings. White Sox have won two of their last three and the offense has been making strides. They’ve scored 12 runs in their last three games which good for four runs on average. Tonight's total is a wild 6.5. The books see this one ending somewhere in the 4-3 range which I could certainly see myself. I think this will be a sweat but they have an advantage.
Allow me to explain why I believe that. Kopech is on the mound for the White Sox and he’s been truly spectacular. He has only allowed three runs in 19 innings which is good for a 1.42 ERA. These Cubs bats don’t have much experience against him as he’s only had 6 exchanges with their current batters, within those at bats they’ve only garnered one hit. The inexperience they have against him should be a benifit for us. On the Cubs side, they have Drew Smyly who has been pretty solid thus far. Although he’s doing his thing I still have reason to believe he could allow some runs. Smyly has allowed 13 hits in 42 at-bats against these White Sox batters. That is good for a .309 average and I don’t think that’s just good luck. The White Sox are known for crushing lefties and bat .278 against them this year.
I think White Sox have the superior bats and we have the pitching advantage given the matchups. This game is likely to be delayed but I see no reason it can’t start at 9:00 EST and they play a full game. I also like first 5 innings bets as the Cubs have a slightly higher rated bullpen but that’s more juice and I think both should hit so we’ll take the less risky bet with better odds. Although it’s an irrelevant stat I find it to be interesting so I’ll share, the White Sox lead the battle of Chicago in their duels 39-36. I think it’s cool to see how both teams are both so even and reside in the same city. I think White Sox are good for #40 tonight and we’ll be watching and rooting them on.
