Kansas City Royals vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
After picking up a 1-0 win yesterday against the Royals in St. Louis, the Cardinals head over to Kansas City in hopes of picking up another win tonight. The Cardinals have already beat the Royals twice this season, and I predict the game tonight presents a similar result.
Dakota Hudson made his first start of the season against the Royals where he allowed three earned runs, but the Cardinals were still able to pick up the win. In his starts, the Cardinals are 3-1. Considering the Royals’ offense is ranked dead last in runs per game, only averaging 3.00, Hudson should have another successful outing.
Kansas City is going with Brad Keller. While he’s done well so far this season, I don’t expect that success to continue against tonight. Keller made two starts against St. Louis last season and the Royals lost both— Keller surrendered five earned runs in one start, and two earned + two unearned runs in the other.
There’s no doubt that the Cardinals are the better team in almost every category, especially their bullpen. The Royals are tied with Colorado for the worst bullpen with 4.75 ERAs. Meanwhile, the Cardinals bullpen has proven solid with a 2.94 ERA, the sixth-best in the league. Last season, the Cards went 5-1 against Kansas City. The Royals are 7-14 and have lost four straight games.
