ANALYSIS

Miami Marlins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction: Can Miami Even the Series Against Arizona Tonight?

The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the worst hitting teams in the MLB. However, the Diamondbacks are 11-13 on the season and hanging around in the NL West, at least for now. Meanwhile, the Miami Marlins are also doing a very solid job and are currently 12-10 on the season behind a very good starting rotation. Which team will flex their muscles in the second game of the three-game series? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Tuesday's game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins.

Marlins vs. Diamondbacks Line Movement

Miami Marlins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

Trevor Rodgers will take the hill for the Marlins with a 5.09 ERA. He's 1-3 on the season but is coming off two straight starts where he's combined to allow two runs in 11 innings off six hits. Rogers will now take on a Diamondbacks projected lineup that has a combined .047 ISO and .167 wOBA against lefties this season. Arizona is also hitting just 11.7% line drives against lefties and nearly 50 % ground balls. Only two players in the Diamondbacks lineup are walking more than 8.3% of the time against lefties. With Rogers turning the corner, the Diamondbacks look like they'll be struggling n the offensive end. On the other hand, Humberto Castellanos will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. Castellanos has a 6.88 xFIP with 12.9% strikeouts and 9.7% walks. On the year, he is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA and is only inducing 23.9% ground balls while giving up 28.3% line drives. The Marlins are hitting 22.7% line drives in their projected lineup. They also have a .154 ISO and wOBA of .308, which is now above average in the new age of baseball. With that said, I like the Marlins to get the job done at home by multiple runs.
