Tuesday Early MLB Looks: What Starting Pitchers Should Be On Today's Strikeout Watch?
Do you have any idea what the true definition of "summertime fun" is? You won't find this in any dictionary but the streets define "summertime fun" as taking a rando pitcher at 6+ strikeouts for +300 and watching the crazy bastard pull it off. That's just how summertime fun works. What's cool about summertime fun is it doesn't even have to happen during the summer. It can happen in the spring and the early fall. The only thing about summertime fun is it takes a sharp eye and balls of steel to actually pull off. There's a reason the books slap a 3.5 number on some pitchers. These guys are at the whim of the opposing lineups which is why we need to know who to look for in these lineups. Sometimes these managers will slip in five or six known strikeout guys just to give the real hitters a day off. When that happens, we have to be ready. You can't be some geek off the street. Actually, you probably can but you definitely have to be handy with the steel (Warren G). Or Twitter. Here's what we're looking for today people.
Note: We need at least five of the hitters in a lineup or we abort the mission and look for another ladder to climb.
