Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction: Will Nathan Eovaldi Have a Big Night Tonight?

Neither team has seen much success to start the season between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. However, the good news is that one of these two teams has to win a three-game series. Well, unless rain gets in the way. It looks like there could be rain in the forecast but I'm reading reports that say the game should still be played. If this game is played, there are money-making opportunities. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Friday's game between the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

It'll be Nathan Eovaldi taking the mound for the Red Sox. He's been electric to start his season with a 2.51 ERA. His ERA is low and his xFIP has been low as well, sitting at 3.32. Eovaldi is also striking out 28.1% of batters while walking just 2.6% of batters. Those are some ace-looking numbers. Meanwhile, the White Sox have been awful against righties this season. The projected lineup has a .111 ISO and wOBA of .240 with just 4.9% walks and 16% line drives. Even when the White Sox are putting the ball in play, they're not getting good wood on the ball or having much success at all. Vince Velasquez will be Chicago's pitcher tonight. He has a 5.23 xFIP but is still striking out 23.8% of batters. This season, he has a surprising 4.58 ERA on the season. I mean that in a good way. Still, Velasquez has been brutal against righties more than lefties, even as a right-handed pitcher. Righties have a .481 wOBA and ISO of .353 in 37 plate appearances. Oddly enough, lefties, only have a .197 wOBA and ISO of .000 in 43 plate appearances. The Red Sox are going to have to rely heavily on their two top righties between Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez. Tonight, we won't see a whole lot of runs. Eovaldi has been on his game and the White Sox haven't been. Yes, Chicago has injuries. But that's no excuse. The lineup, on paper, name-wise, looks amazing. However, this team is just absolutely struggling against righties. Give me Under 1.5 in the first five on the team total for the White Sox at +105.
