This bet is about as square as Spongebob but it’s worth backing today. Here is my best bet for Saturday's first game of the Cubs and Dodgers day-night doubleheader.

Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

Make sure you are betting on game 1 of the double header today. The matchup begins at 1:00 EST and is a pitching matchup between Clayton Kershaw and Drew Smyly. Kershaw has been great man, it’s been a pleasure to watch. Kershaw is 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA and has a great history vs these Cubs bats. These Cubs bats only have 6 hits in 35 at-bats against him which is good for a .171 average, not to mention Kershaw has only walked one batter and has struck out 19 of these hitters. It’s a road game for Kershaw where he plays slightly worse but I still think we have the major pitching advantage.

Drew Smyly gets the ball today for Chicago and to be fair he has had himself a nice little start to the season. The lefty is rocking a 2.79 ERA but hasn’t been getting much run support so he holds a 1-2 record. I don’t believe this ERA is sustainable as he’s more of low 4’s guy. The Dodgers hit rightly better than lefties, so it’s weird that we’re backing them, but I believe they can still get runs off of Smyly who’s due for an implosion soon. Smyly has allowed 22 hits in 66 at hats against these Dodgers lifetime which is good for a .333 average. That’s nearly double Kershaw against these Cubs bats, lets hope history repeats itself.

I’ve noticed in baseball that trusting my guy seems to do well. I feel like this Is a pick that a casual fan could and would make but that doesn’t discredit it from having value. I just personally believe getting this at -125 has value. All we need is the Dodgers to lead by 1 or more after five innings, that’s not insane. I feel like the only we lose this one is how we lost the Verlander one, if it’s a dead tie. I’ll take my chances here and back the team with the better pitcher and better bats.
