MLB player prop pick and prediction for the Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox game Tuesday night on TBS. Player prop specialist John Hyslop is here with his top MLB player prop bet with his eyes set on Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Whitlock.
ANALYSIS

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox Best Bet: Will Garrett Whitlock Lock Up the Braves Bats Tonight?

We need to hit a bet people. It's just that simple. The only thing better than making bets is winning bets. That's science. I'm surprised we're not teaching that to kids in school these days. If I was in charge, that would be the first thing the kids learn. Literally the first day of kindergarten. And then maybe even every day after the teacher takes attendance, they throw it out again. It's that important. Speaking of kindergarten, I found a move for tonight that is literally kindergarten easy. If we took a survey of kindergarteners across the country, I bet an overwhelming majority would get this one right. No offense to kindergartners but it is literally that easy. Sometimes we just get lucky out here.

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction

Garrett Whitlock 6+ Strikeouts (+108) (Bet $100 to Win $108)

We're at FanDuel here but we could easily be at DraftKings too. The kings have 5.5 for +105 which isn't as good but it's good enough. It's crazy because just an hour ago this was +134 at FanDuel. People know a good line when they see one and somebody smart must have smashed this somewhere. We see adjustments all the time but the move from +134 to this is pretty big in a short amount of time.

I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret about Garrett Whitlock. He's nasty. Like nasty nasty. We're talking Janet Jackson nasty here people. The Red Sox know it too because he's definitely a starter now. There's been talk of stretching him out and it's not just talk. It's real. He went from throwing 48 pitches to 61 to 78 in his last start. That's called a pattern people and that's how they work.

I'd expect that Whitlock approaches 80 pitches again tonight with upside. That number may only make his ceiling 20 batters but that's fine with me. He only faced 13 Tampa Bay Rays and struck out seven of them. That's crazy. In his last start against the Los Angeles Angels, he saw 17 of them and mowed down nine. All this kid needs is the right hitters and he will embarrass them.

Tonight he should see more of the right hitters in the Atlanta Braves. We're talking Austin Riley, Adam Duvall, Dansby Swanson, Ronald Acuna, Travis d'Arnaud, and Travis Demeritte. All of those guys are 28+% strikeout guys over the last couple of weeks. He could see each of them twice tonight. Not for nothing, but Whitlock could get six strikeouts the first time through this Braves order. This feels like a good bet and it could be the last time we see a plus money number on 6+ for Whitlock.
