The Braves have had a very rocky opening start to 2022 after winning the World Series last year and got off to a terrible start in their series opener against the Red Sox as they lost 9-4 but can they bounce back tonight? Let's break it down.

Braves vs. Red Sox Line Movement

Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction

Like the Braves, the Red Sox have also gotten off to a rocky start this year as they come into tonight's game with a record of 11-19. You would think with a roster of guys like Devers, Martinez, Story, Verdugo, etc. that this team would be scoring runs left and right but that has just not been the case so far this season.

The Red Sox have also struggled on the mound and especially with their bullpen who has already blown multiple saves this season and been very shaky. But tonight, the Sox are starting their ace, Nathan Eovaldi, who comes into this game with a very respectable 2.94 ERA and a record of 1-1.

Eovaldi's numbers look pretty good on the surface but some of his better starts this season have come against very weak opponents. He threw 7 scoreless against the Orioles and only allowed 2 earned in 5 innings against the Tigers. In his first start of the season against the Yankees, he struggled allowing a few homers and gave up 3 earned through just 5 innings. Then in his last start against the White Sox, a team who is terrible against RHP, he allowed 3 earned runs, 3 walks, and 6 total hits scattered across 5 innings. He is not in the best form at the moment and I think he will struggle against this deep Atlanta lineup. So, the question is, Will Eovaldi be able to hold down this Braves lineup? Even without Acuna, I think the answer is no.

The Braves are due for some positive regression at the plate in a major way. They have been getting on base a ton and just have not been able to cash in on their opportunities. I think they will finally be able to break through tonight as they still have a very deep lineup. Albies, Olson, Ozuna, and Riley are all very dangerous hitters, and think it will be very difficult for Eovaldi to navigate through this lineup tonight without any trouble.

On the mound for the Braves tonight is Ian Anderson who has been pitching exceptionally well over his last 4 starts. In those 4 starts, he allowed 2 earned runs or fewer in all 4. The main concern for Anderson tonight will be his ability to stay in the strike zone as he walked 4 batters in his last start against the Mets and has 11 total walks this season in just 19 1/3rd innings of work.

In his first start of the year, he walked 5 and then followed that up with a great performance against the Padres where he only allowed 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 earned run in 5 2/3rds innings of work so I expect that same type of bounce-back game from Anderson here against an inconsistent Red Sox lineup. With that being said, I am rolling with Braves F5 ML at -110 and Braves Full Game ML at -115 for 1U each as my most confident MLB Picks of the night.
