Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics prediction and pick by MLB expert and handicapper Jason Radowitz. Jason previews this Thursday afternoon game as the Tigers and A's square off once more.

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction: Which Offense Can We Trust More?

The Oakland Athletics started off the season around .500 but are now starting to drop games quickly, with a record of 13-19. But that's still a better record than their opposition. On the other hand, the Tigers are still looking for their 10th win of the season, with a record of 9-22.

Both of these teams have lacked offense throughout the season. But one team is going to eventually outscore the other. Which team will that be? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Thursday’s game between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics.

Tigers vs. Athletics Line Movement

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction

In the last 30 days, the Tigers and Athletics have both struggled immensely trying to hit right-handed pitching.

The Tigers projected lineup has a .064 ISO and wOBA of .250 against righties this season with 25.5% strikeouts and just 6.2% walks.

Meanwhile, the Athletics' projected lineup has a .087 ISO with a .235 wOBA and 26.5% strikeouts with 7.1% walks.

It's truly hard to trust either one of these teams and their offense. But with that said, one team has to win the game.

The Athletics will pitch James Kaprielian, who showed signs of growth last season. He's already striking out 25.7% of batters since getting back on the mound this season. The Tigers should struggle to hit the right-hander, who has some really good stuff.

On the other hand, the Tigers will send out Beau Brieske, who is only earning 14.3% strikeouts with 11.1% walks. He has a 6.95 xFIP on the season with just 29.9% ground balls induced.

The Athletics strike out plenty as well but against Brieske, the strikeouts will be limited and more balls will be put into play. Good things happen when the ball is in play.

With that said, I'll be taking the Athletics on the moneyline in the first five innings. I'll trust Kaprielian against a Tigers lineup that has eight of nine batters striking out at least 20% of the time against righties.
