Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros Prediction
1u - Luis Garcia Over 16.5 Pitching Outs (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)
*Odds Available at Caesars at Time of Publishing*
Garcia has been spectacular for us this year. We need him to record 17 outs or in other words he needs to go 5.2 innings pitched. Garcia has accomplished this in four straight games and his lone miss on the season was his opening start where managers were hesitant to let their starters go deep. In that game, he only threw 71 pitches despite pitching well. In his last two games, he threw 86 and 91 pitches which is a great sign he will be stretched.
The main reason I love this prop is that they are resuming yesterday's game today. I expect some Houston bullpen arms to be used up in the first game and Garcia to have more wiggle room to go deeper into this game. I would expect that Houston wants a quality start out of him so they can still have some bullpen arms for tomorrow against Cleveland. Garcia has a nice little history against these Twins bats as well as he has only allowed 4 hits in 17 at bats. It may not be much data but a .235 batting average againat him doesn’t stand off the page.
This bet is pretty simple. We love Luis, he needs to go deep in this one and it’s a manageable number. I think he goes 6 full personally so getting the extra insurance of 5.2 is really nice as he’s gone that exact distance once this year already. Luis is worse on the road which is the only trend that goes against this bet but if he can go 6 full against the scary Blue Jays then I think he can against this Twins team too. Let's hope Houston uses a bunch of bullpen arms in game 1 and Luis is allowed to throw 90+, he can manage a 15-pitches per inning average.
