I am so pleased to see this number. Rasmussen doesn’t get much love but he’s quietly put together such a great year so far. The 26-year-old righty has a 2.89 ERA and has allowed 3+ Earned Runs once in his 6 starts. A 5/6 hit rate is great but it’s deeper than that. Rasmussen has been especially lights out in his last three starts, Drew has pitched 16 innings and has only allowed 2 total earned runs and only 8 total hits. That’s only one hit against him every two innings, the guy is on fire.
The Blue Jays are one of those teams that you never like fading but Rasmussen has a great history against them. In 30 matchups with Toronto bats, he has only allowed 5 hits and one RBI. These numbers are fantastic and although I think they will be difficult to maintain we don’t need them too. All we need is Rasmussen to go 5 innings or so and allow 2 or less. Rasmussen has only surpassed 5 innings once this year and the Blue Jays Team Total for the first 5 is 1.5 with no juice, we’re getting value!
This year, Rasmussen has two starts at home and has pitched 10 innings and allowed 2 total runs. Additionally, he has only allowed 5 hits in those 2 games, on pace with his one hit per innings in two innings against him from before. Drew will have to bring his best game against Toronto as they pitch Gausman, I think this is a boring and low-scoring game and love any under pivots that you can think of.
