Detroit Tigers vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction
This is rare for me to bet on one of my teams so you know I must feel good about it. I’m a massive Tarik Skubal fan, I think he is on his way to becoming one of the best arms in this league. He gets the Orioles today and I expect him to dominate. Baltimore bats an abysmal .213 against lefties and doesn’t catch a break today getting Skubal who has looked great. Skubal is coming off a dominant seven-inning performance where he didn’t allow a single run and only allowed three hits, he seems to be in the zone.
Tyler Wells is on the bump for Baltimore and I think he’s a fine pitcher. He has allowed 10 runs in 24 innings pitched thus far. With that being said, I don’t expect him to blank this Tigers offense (even with how bad it’s been). I think it’s very real that this could be a 2-1 or 1-0 ball game after five innings. The cool thing about taking the moneyline here for Detroit is we can push with a tie instead of losing outright like our -0.5 bets. I’ve never tied on a bet before and let's hope to keep it that way and just win this one outright.
Skubal is notoriously better at home and his only blemish this year at home was his first start of the year. That game was also against the White Sox who notoriously destroy lefties, Orioles aren’t close to being the same threat. There are many ways to attack this but I like this one because I think Baltimore actually has a pretty slept-on bullpen that could hang with Detroit's. Skubal has only allowed one RBI in 32 at-bats with these Orioles. I expect more dominance from him and the Tigers to possibly sweep the first time this year. We’ll go first five though because it feels like it has a bigger edge.
