Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros Prediction
The Astros enter play sporting a record of 23-12, which is the second-best record in the American League. The Red Sox, on the other side of things, sit dead last in the American League, supporting a record of just 13-21. They have been running cold as of late as they are 3-7 in their last ten games. The Astros, on the flip side, are 9-1 in their last ten games. The bottom line is these two teams have opposite starts to their season.
The Red Sox overachieved a season ago. They came into this season with expeditions of being a playoff team as they landed high-profile shortstop Trevor Story, in the offseason. Story has really struggled so far in a Sox uniform, but he will have a long season to turn that around. The bullpen has been brutal for the Sox as well in the young season, and that is something that they will have to figure out as they along. One of the good things that happened to the Sox this season has been pitcher Garret Whitlock. Whitlock has an ERA of just 2.19 in 24.2 innings of work. He will be opposed by veteran Jake Odorizzi tonight.
I am backing the Red Sox on the first five moneyline. Whitlock has been their best arm all season long, and I believe the price here is suggesting that this is a Red Sox play. The Sox have seen Odorozzi before when he spent time in Minnesota as well as his time in Houston a season ago. I believe their lineup will see him well tonight and should be able to put up a few early runs.
I do not trust the Red Sox bullpen to make this a full game bet, but I think Whitlock should limit Houston’s offense early. The Red Sox are a much better team than their record indicates, and this is a good buy-low spot tonight. Let’s stay hot on the Diamond and cash this bet in!
