ANALYSIS

Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros Best Bet: Will Nathan Eovaldi Struggle to Find the Strike Zone?

The hottest market on the streets has to be the pitcher walk market. So far I've only seen it on DraftKings but at some point, the other books have to catch on. We're talking about a white-hot market here. Naturally, the first time I dipped my toes in this thing they came back burning. Most of you probably remember it because it was last Friday night when I hit Logan Webb over 1.5 +180. It was glorious. We all had a great time with it. But now it's time to jump back in and put my undefeated record on the line. That's right people, I've never lost in this market. That's just how being undefeated works. Lucky for us, I've found the perfect move to put such a tremendous streak on the line with. It feels like it was tailor-made for us.

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Tuesday's game between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.

Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros Best Bet

Nathan Eovaldi Over 1.5 Walks (+150) (Bet $100 to win $150)

*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*

This is obviously at DraftKings because the other books don't even know about this market yet. It's just like anything that catches fire though. It takes a while before everyone catches on. The walks market just hasn't reached its tipping point yet. That's all. It will be here before you know it and everyone will be able to get in on these. But for now, it's just us DraftKings users.

Nathan Eovaldi. That's this guy's name. Don't let this guy fool you though. He's an absolute tank of a man who can throw a baseball at 97 mph. That's pretty fast. He blends in easily with the rest of the top half of MLB pitchers because of that fastball. It's gotten him out of trouble plenty of times in his career. But Nate Dog has a secret. And trust me, it's not pretty.

Although he's done a decent job of hiding it recently, Eovaldi is a walk guy. Yep, he can get wild at any time. That's fun when you're at the club but when you're on the pitchers' mound, it's not cool. The first year this guy was in the minors he had a 5.97 BB/9. Just a few short years ago (2019), he had a 4.66 BB/9. He's gotten ahold of things in the last few years but "Wild Nate" can show up at any time. He just walked three White Sox in his outing before last.

Tonight we have a pretty good matchup and the books didn't seem to notice. Maybe they buy the idea that Nate has changed but I'm not so sure. Not against the Houston Astros. We're talking about a team that has walked more times this season than any other American League team. Over the last two weeks, only one team in the entire MLB has walked more (the Dodgers). All we need is an ump with bad eyes and this thing is a lock. Still, given the matchup, I think even with a regular seeing ump, Nate Dog is walking at least two people tonight.
