Logan Gilbert will get the call for the Mariners, and Puerto Rican-born right-hander Jose Berrios will oppose him. Gilbert enters play with an era of just 2.13 on the young season. Gilbert is one of the best young arms in baseball and has a lot of expeditions. He has answered the call so far but will be tasked with facing one of the best lineups in baseball.
Jose Berrios is one of the better arms in baseball when right, but he has struggled this season. Berrios was acquired last season towards the trade deadline for one of the Blue Jay's top prospects in Austin Martin. Berrios should bounce back, and I think tonight could be the perfect spot against a struggling Seattle offense. The Mariners got a lot of attention last season as America's sweetheart. Everyone was rooting for the Mariners to make the playoffs, but a loss in the final game of the season would prevent that. They will have to turn things around this season if they want to make another run at the postseason,
The play I am turning to here is one of my favorite bets to make in baseball. The total hits, runs, and errors under! The line here for this game is sitting at 25.5. The Mariners have really struggled to get going on offense this season. Seattle ranks 18th in the league, sporting a batting average of just .231. The Blue Jays are not a great average team either, hitting just .235 as a team.
The bottom line here is neither of these teams are great at hitting for average, which equals hits. The Blue Jays produce a lot of their runs on the long ball, which actually is a good thing for hits, runs, and errors bets. The one thing you have to avoid is teams who string singles together, and that is not the case with either of these teams. We also get two really good arms that should be able to limit the damage tonight. This line is a steal in my eyes so let’s take advantage. We are coming off a 4-0 MLB sweep yesterday.
