Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees Prediction: It’s Gerrit Cole Day
I love making wacky creative bets but sometimes I’ll just take the obvious pick if it has value too. Let's dive into my prediction, picks, and odds for Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees.
Gerrit Cole To Record A Win (-130) (Bet $130 to win $100)
This bet just has too much value to not be on. Cole has the spotlight taken away from him from Nestor Cortes but today feels like a day he absolutely dominates. Cole has quietly only allowed four runs in his last four games. Only allowing 4 runs in 25.1 innings pitched is very impressive stuff and now he gets Baltimore who is batting .226 as a team and are on a 5 game skid, do we really expect this slumping Baltimore team to end their skid against the Yankees with the best record? This is the same Baltimore team that allowed my awful Tigers just sweep them, let's not overthink here.

Cole has played Baltimore five times as a Yankee and is 4-1 in those 5 starts. All four are recorded wins which we will need here. Yankees currently have the best bullpen in the MLB in terms of ERA so Yankees should hold a lead for Gerrit if he’s exits with one here after five innings or more. Yankees to win this game outright is -280, this feels pretty safe. This is sort of like a double result but I think Cole has the upside to go 7 innings for us and give us more time to get a lead if we don’t already have it.
Jordan Lyles is on the bump for the Orioles and we have reasons to believe he gets hit around tonight. He has already played the Yankees twice this year and has had mixed starts. In his more recent outing he allowed six runs in less than 5 innings of work, we would love that again. But in his other start, he only allowed 1 run in 5.1 innings of work. I think he ends somewhere in the middle today and maybe allows 3 or so. Lifetime the Yankees crush this guy reaching base 39 times in 104 at bats. That’s good for a .375 OBP and he has allowed 19 RBI’s lifetime against these batters. Yankees have the hottest team in baseball and a Cole who has looked great his last few starts, this is an easy one.
