San Diego Padres vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction: Back the Phillies With Zach Wheeler on the Mound?

The San Diego Padres vs. the Philadelphia Phillies will take place from the city of brotherly love on Wednesday night. This series started with a win by the Padres after Philly took three out of four against the Dodgers and was one out away from a sweep of the Dodgers. Let's break down my prediction, pick, and odds for Padres vs. Phillies tonight.

San Diego Padres vs Philadelphia Phillies Line Movement

San Diego Padres vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

The Philly bats finally came to life, showing why they are one of the best lineups in baseball. Defending MVP Bryce Harper had a huge series earning himself player of the week in the national league. This is a deep lineup but the issue yet again this season for the Phillies is their bullpen. Their starting pitching has been on.

They know it can be better, but the bullpen is a real concern for Philly as it has been in years past. The starter for the Phillies tonight will be Zack Wheeler, who is fresh off a Cy Young caliber season. Wheeler finished second in voting for the Cy Young a season ago but has struggled a bit out of the gate this year. He will look to turn that around tonight. The Padres will send former Cy Young award-winning southpaw Blake Snell to the mound. This will be Snell's first start of the season, and he will likely be on a pitch count tonight.

I am backing the Phillies tonight on the moneyline. They should bounce back tonight after a pair of losses with their ace on the mound. Wheeler has struggled, but this is a great spot to bounce back against this Padres team. Snell getting the ball does not scare me much as he will be rusty, and even if he has a good outing, the Phillies will not see him for a long time. The way their bats woke up against the Dodgers should give them momentum moving forward. I love the Phillies tonight at home with their ace. Let’s cash in!
