ANALYSIS

Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction: Do the Orioles Stand a Chance?

The Tampa Bay Rays are currently 23-15 and taking on a Baltimore Orioles team that is just 15-24. The Orioles are coming off an exciting win against the Yankees, but ultimately, ended up losing the series to the Yankees during the week.

Meanwhile, the Rays defeated the Detroit Tigers in their last series and will look to continue momentum against another poor team. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Friday’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Orioles vs Rays Line Movement

Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

The Rays continue to develop pitching like no tomorrow. The Rays will send out Jalen Beeks for tonight's game.

Beeks has a 1.72 ERA to start the season with a 4.06 xFIP in the last 30 days. In those 30 days, Beeks is earning 65.5% of ground balls and allowing just 6.9% of line drives. Beeks has given up an ISO of .273 to lefties, but he's only had 12 plate appearances against lefties and hasn't been able to even out that small sample size just yet.

Meanwhile, the Orioles have an ISO of .120 and wOBA of .290 in the last 30 days as a projected lineup against lefties. The Orioles have also struck out 24.7% of the time in the last 30 days and earn under 9% of walks.

On the other hand, the Orioles will pitch Tyler Wells, who has a 5.19 xFIP in the last 30 days,. He's also earning just 15.6% of strikeouts. Wells has limited the walks to 0 in those 30 days but isn't getting a whole lot of ground balls this season.

Wells is also giving up a .240 ISO to righties in the last 30 days and the Rays have a couple of solid power bats in their lineup including Randy Arozarena.

Therefore, I'll rely on the Rays pitching staff to blank the Orioles. The Rays will get their runs and end up winning a low-scoring battle. Take the Rays at -130.
