Cleveland Guardians vs Detroit Tigers Prediction
I am putting my faith in Detroit pitching today. Tarik Skubal has been outstanding allowing 0 runs in four of his last six games. Skubal is proving to be a future ace in this league if he isn’t already. He gets a Guardians team who hits lefties way worse than righties. Cleveland hits righties at an awesome .258 clip but hits lefties only at a .207 clip. Skubal has had success against the Cleveland bats before too, only allowing eight hits in 35 at-bats which is only a .228 average. More importantly, he has only allowed one RBI against these batters throughout his career.
If this bet is mostly focused on Skubal then why aren’t we going first 5? The books actually made a correct call and put the first 5 runs at 1.5 which is a fair price. To many people's surprise though, Detroit has had a stellar bullpen. Detroit has the third-best bullpen in the MLB in terms of ERA. The only team with better bullpens this year are the Astros and Yankees, kinda wild to think about considering Detroit is so bad. This game is a true pickem and I think there’s a chance Cleveland doesn’t even bat in the bottom of the ninth becuase they already have won. This game could easily be a 4-3 final, I think Civale is bad but not 9 ERA bad, this feels like a get-right spot for him.
Cleveland has only scored 10 runs in their last four games and hasn’t surpassed 5+ runs in any of those games. I like that trend to continue against a great lefty and top three bullpens, betting on Detroit is done best when you’re not betting on their bats. I feel very good about this one and had it written down as 3.5 all night, if it wasn’t juiced a little bit then it easily could have been a 1.5u play for me.
