Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves Prediction: Can Charlie Morton Find His Rhythm?
Charlie Morton was one of the best pitchers in the national league last season and was a key contributor to the Braves' World Series run before getting hurt early in the World Series last year. Morton has gotten off to a rocky start in 2022 as he comes into this game with a 4.93 ERA that raises to 7.31 on the road. Here is our prediction, pick, and the odds for the Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins game tonight.

Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves Prediction
While Morton has really struggled in his appearances on the road, let's take a look at who he has faced in those games. His three road starts have come against the Dodgers, Mets, and Padres who are all well above .500 and the Mets/Dodgers have looked like 2 of the best teams in the entire league to this point. I really feel like Morton is due for his best road start of the season as this will be his most favorable road matchup of the year to this point.
Morton followed up his poor performance against the Padres by throwing a gem against them in his last start and appears that he may have turned a corner as he has only given up one earned run over his last 11 innings while striking out 14 and only allowing a total of four hits. That is the Charlie Morton we have been accustomed to seeing and that is the Charlie Morton who I think will show up tonight.
Another big question in this game is how Trevor Rogers for the Marlins will pitch. Like Morton, Rogers has had a very up and down season filled with good and bad starts. Rogers has really struggled at home to this point which is surprising as most pitchers typically do well in their home ballparks. Rogers has tallied a 1-2 record with a 10.33 ERA at home this season against the Brewers, Phillies, and Diamondbacks. Those teams have been solid, but they are nowhere near the top of the league in any offensive category, and I think Rogers may struggle against the depth of this Braves lineup tonight.
Another theme that has emerged with Rogers is that he has been unable to put together 3 quality starts in a row. In his second start of the season, he allowed 7 earned runs to the Phillies at home in just one and 2/3rds inning of work but then followed that performance up with two very solid starts against the Braves and Nationals as he allowed one run in 11 innings.
After that, he seemed to regress with another below-average start against the Diamondbacks as he allowed six hits, issued two walks, and allowed a total of five earned runs in only four innings. Now fast forward to today and Rogers is coming off two very solid starts against the Padres and Brewers as he only allowed one run in 10 1/3rds innings.
I think Rogers' issues with consistency will be a factor tonight as this will also be the Braves' second time seeing him this season and expect a much better effort against him tonight as opposed to their first matchup where they could only push a single unearned run against Rogers. With that being said, I am rolling with Braves F5 ML at -115 and Braves Full Game ML at -115 for 1U each as my most confident MLB Picks of the night as I think the Braves get to Rogers early and hold the Marlins down offensively with a strong performance from Morton and the Braves pen.
