New York Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction

It feels like they are playing each other every week and so far this year the Yankees are 7-3 against the Orioles but the Orioles got the last one in DRAMATIC walk-off fashion with a three-run blast. In the game before that, we had Gerrit Cole and Jordan Lyles which is tonight's matchup and the last one was pretty good as both starters went seven innings and gave up two runs. That was last week, this week we feel the result will be a little different as the venue has changed as well.

The Orioles are playing a little better and they may be in last place in the East but they are actually ahead of three teams for the worst record in the AL as they are tied with Seattle for the fourth-worst record. The Orioles are excited though as they have just called up their best prospect and one of the best in all of MLB in catcher Adley Rutschman who is starting tonight.

Since the 3-2 Yankees win with Cole over Lyles last week, these teams have gone in different directions as the Orioles won three out of the next four just winning a series versus Tampa Bay, while the Yankees have lost three out of the last four including the doubleheader sweep (we had the White Sox in both games a nice sweep at plus money) against the White Sox where they mustered one measly run yesterday in eighteen innings, for the team with the best record and leading the league in homers that is embarrassing.

The Yankees have owned the Orioles for years and have won 70% of the games this year, and the Orioles already know how good the Yankee ace is from last week's dominant performance. We can just look at the history of these starters as Lyles is 1-2 with a 4.21-lifetime record against the Yanks while Cole has been dominant with a 5-1 record and a minuscule 1.57 era in his career.

Let's forget about the Yankees having the best record, let's forget they have their $40 million a year ace going who has owned the Orioles, let's forget that the Yankees have owned the Orioles including a 19 game winning streak against them that ended a few years ago, what we can't forget is how bad the Yankees looked yesterday.

Cueto and Kopech (not names you usually use when you say dominating) held the Yanks to eleven hits and got sixteen strikeouts (including the bullpens of course). They gave up one run in the doubleheader, a solo blast by Judge and that's it.

This is the No. 1 offense that looked worse as the day went as they looked like they might get no-hit in the night game. Aaron Boone was not happy and the Yankees will right the ship today even more important it looks like they have taken Aroldis Chapman out of the closer role and might put him on the DL (he's dealing with an Achilles issue).

This is good for us as Michael King (he has been as dominant as anyone) might be the closer and we won't have to worry about the Yankees blowing Gerritt Cole's performance tonight. Cole has always been a streak buster and being at home with their ace we feel the Yankees will make the adjustments to score more than two runs off Lyles and we feel it's time Aaron Judge got his first career hit off him tonight as well (0-8 lifetime).

With their ace off the doubleheader sweep and the fact the Yankees own the Orioles and are mad about the walk-off last week, tonight they should explode. We won't lay the juice but we feel confident the Yankees can win by at least two runs and we will lay the -1.5 run line with a -140 juice which is more reasonable (you can do F5 -1/2 as well).

The Yankees have won 41 out of the last 55 between these teams that are 75% we will take those numbers as well as the fact that the Yankees have only lost one game Cole has started this year, while the Orioles have lost Lyles last three starts including an earlier beatdown back in April against these Yankees when he gave up six runs in four innings. That's the Lyles we expect to show up tonight. Yankees in a blowout lay the -1.5 sit back and enjoy the W.
