Most people just need a chance. I like to believe that at least. It's crazy what can happen when you just get an opportunity. Gambling teaches you that among many other valuable life lessons. I've seen it a million times in the NFL. Back-up running backs have stuffed cash in my pockets multiple times when the guy in front of them went down to injury giving them an opportunity to play. Not even just running backs though. Every position in every sport. Tonight we're getting an opportunity to back a guy that's getting an opportunity. It's pretty much a "mom's spaghetti" moment for all of us. The thing is, I don't think this guy will vomit on his sweater. I actually think he's going to get us paid in a major way. He seems like a trustworthy guy.

Here's the thing though, in his last game in that reliever role, our boy still sat down six Philadelphia Phillies. He only threw 50 pitches people. That's baller status. He's proven that if he gets the right lineup, he'll sit people down. He's a chump killer plain and simple.
Tonight he gets another opponent that he can big boy for the entire outing. On the season, only six teams in MLB have struck out more than the Milwaukee Brewers. They aren't quite the Arizona Diamondbacks, but they are pretty close. Tonight they could send at least five guys that are 25+% strikeout guys over the last 15 days. They've got three more that are 21+%. Martinez is a 13% swinging strike guy so if he gets the right lineup, he'll fan at least six of these guys for the fourth time this season. I'm betting this now.
