Seattle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

The Athletics blew up their team in the offseason dealing stars Matt Olson and Matt Chapman while also seeing Mark Canhah and Starling Marte leave for the Mets in free agency. This is a whole new Oakland As team this season, and they knew it would be a long year. That is the money-ball mindset of the Athletics, and they trust their processes.

The Mariners, on the other side of things, came into the year with higher expeditions. After nearly making the postseason a year ago, they were aggressive in free agency, landing reigning Cy Young award winner Robbie Ray. Ray was not the only big name they brought in as they added all-star outfielder Jessie Winker and slugging third basemen Euingo Suarez.

The Mariners also had two blue-chip prospects ready to go in Jared Kelnic and Julio Rodriguez. Kelenic struggled so much that he was sent down to the minor leagues, but Rodriguez has found success so far this season. The Mariners are in the midst of one of their coldest runs this season, losing six of their last seven ball games. Veteran Marco Gonzales gets the rock tonight for the Ms, and he will look to put out the fire. He will be opposed by southpaw Zach Louge. 

I am backing the Mariners on the -1 line tonight. This is the perfect bounce-back spot for what I still think is a good baseball team. You play 162 games during the season you are going to go on cold stretches. That has been the case for the Mariners, but they also have had to play some tough opponents during their cold stretch. They now get a very beatable Oakland team on their home field.

Gonzales has been really good this season for Seattle, and he should be good once again tonight. He will use his experience to give them good innings and a chance to win. This is an offense that is better than they have performed, and I am willing to bet tonight is a breakout night for this team. Let’s keep things rolling on the Diamond tonight!
