Houston Astros vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction
Also known as a Double Result but I’m sure you get the idea. We need the lead after five innings and the outright win. There are so many reasons I love the Astros today I don’t even know where to begin. Let's start with how good Houston is at home. Houston is 12-6 at home and I personally like that they lost last night at home because they got it out of the way, we don’t think that happens two games in a row, right? They play Cleveland who have a losing record on the road as well, Cleveland holds a 10-12 record on the road so already overachieved last night with the upset.
If I needed one reason to love this bet though it is definitely because of the pitching matchup. Framber Valdez has been spectacular holding a 2.68 ERA and has only gotten torched once this year allowing six earned runs to the Angels. Other than that weird night we have seen him dominate. He has games allowing one or less run in 5/8 starts and tonight he should do it again. I really like his u2.5 Earned Runs prop but I can’t justify -180 juice. Cleveland started the year hitting so great but has slowed down and is particularly awful against lefties. Cleveland bats a league-worst .205 against lefties which shocked me when I first saw it, pair that with Houston having the best bullpen in the MLB and I like this bet a lot.
So we think Guardians don’t score many runs, I looked hard at the under earned runs for Framber and the under team total for Cleveland but we have reason to believe that Houston doesn’t allow many runs but has the potential to put some up. On the mound for Cleveland is Zach Plesac, not a huge Plesac guy here. I think he is someone you put out there without much coincidence because you need a body. He has allowed 16 runs in the last 21 innings, not exactly great. Houston is better at hitting righties than lefties so I’m comfortable putting faith in them to lead after five and win outright. Houston will bounce back after last night and even up this series.
