Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
The Los Angeles Angels will send out Reid Detmers for tonight's game. Detmers has a 4.15 ERA on the season and struggled in his last start, allowing three runs in 3.2 innings of work. Prior to that game, Detmers threw a no-hitter.
A lot of the time, after throwing a no-hitter, you're off routine and struggle in the start after. But now that game is behind him. He has a 3.12 ERA in the month of May and has confidence that he can be a legitimate major league starter for years to come.
Detmers will take on a Rangers lineup that has a .122 ISO and wOBA of .261 in the last 30 days against lefties. Only Corey Seager and Mitch Garver are legitimate threats against Detmers. Everyone else, Detmers should cruise on by.
Meanwhile, Glen Otto will take the mound for the Rangers. He's allowed two or fewer runs in every start but one this season. He was wrecked by Boston for eight runs in four innings but other than that, he's always giving his team a chance to win games.
Otto will take on a shorthanded Angels team that has a .150 ISO and wOBA of .289 against righties in the last 30 days. Of course, Mike Trout has a lot of potential along with Shohei Ohtani, but the rest of the lineup has been inconsistent.
There are two batters in each lineup that can do damage and seven batters in each lineup that have been inconsistent against the opposition. Therefore, I'll ride the under between these two young pitchers. Both of these pitchers have so much potential and can show it off against most of the lineup that they'll face tonight.
