Los Angeles Angels vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction
The Blue Jays are led by one of the best offenses in the league, similarly to the Angels. The Jays feature Vladimir Guerrero Jr along with young star Bo Bichette. They also have former World Series champion George Springer at the top of the lineup. The Angels are led by the bats of Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and first-time all-star a season ago Jared Walsh.
These teams can both flat out hit the baseball, but their issues the last few seasons have been pitching. These teams both went out in the offseason and improved their rotations.
The pitching matchup that we have tonight should be a good one. The Jays will send veteran southpaw Hyun Jin Ryu to the mound, and he will be opposed by reigning MVP Shohei Othani. We all know about Ohtani at this point, and all the things he can do but Ryu was one of the biggest free-agent signings just a couple of seasons ago. Ryu has struggled with some injuries this season, so he could be on a pitch count tonight. Ohtani will look to turn in a strong performance in front of the LA faithful tonight.
I am backing the Angels on the -1 line. The Angels are coming off a bad loss last night where they just could not get their bats going. I believe they will bounce back tonight and swing the bats well behind a strong outing by Ohtani. Ohtani has had a very strong to this season, sporting an era of 2.82 on the season. He is fresh off an MVP season, but his pitching has actually looked better this season than last, which is a scary sight for teams around the league.
Ryu has not been very sharp yet this year, and I do not expect him to go deep into this game. The Angels should be able to take advantage of this Toronto bullpen. I will take my chances on the Angels tonight. Let’s stay hot on the Diamond!
