New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies vs. the New York Mets will take place from Citi Field on Friday night in the big apple. The Mets have had Philly's number on the young season, and they will look to improve on that tonight. The Mets enter play first in the NL East, holding a 7.5-game lead over both the Braves and the Phillies. The Mets have been great to start the season, holding one of the best records in baseball at 29-17.

The Phillies, on the flip side of things, have struggled to find their way so far. They have been below the .500 mark for quite some time and will look to get above it this weekend. They have had a tough schedule to this point in the season, and according to the team, they feel fine with where they are. The good thing about baseball is how long the season is. You can not really be out of it until the summer rolls around.

The Phillies were aggressive in free agency, landing a pair of all-star outfielders in Nicholas Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber. They have both proved why they are all stars at points this season, but Schwarber has struggled to be consistent this year. The bright spot for the Phillies is the reigning MVP, Bryce Harper. Harper is picking up where he left off and putting up great numbers for the Phils this year. He will be in the hunt all season to win another MVP Award. 

I am backing the New York Mets tonight on the moneyline. This is basically a bullpen game for the Phillies, and as a Phillies fan, this bullpen is not very good. Bailey Falter will start the game, and then they will play the matchup game. Carlos Carrasco gets the rock for the Mets, and he has been really good to this point in the season, spotting a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 3.50. I think Carrasco turns in a solid outing for us tonight, and the Mets bats get back to work after losing a couple of games in a row. This should be a good spot for New York at home tonight.
