Cincinnati Reds vs San Francisco Giants Prediction

The first two games of this series have been won by the underdog as the Reds have ripped off a couple to start the series. That is coming off the heels of two wins over the Cubs, giving them their longest winning streaks of the season at four games. They will put that streak on the line this morning, trying to get a sweep over one of the best teams in baseball just a season ago. The Reds blew up their team in the offseason by dealing all-stars, Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez. They knew they would struggle this season but not to this degree. They began the year on a historic pace for losers, but the recent run may help out the numbers.

The Giants are fresh off their best regular season in franchise history, winning north of one hundred ball games. They have regressed this year, but a lot of people still believe they are a playoff-caliber team. The pitching matchup we will get today will be Alex Wood, the veteran right-hander for the Giants, and he will be opposed by Tyler Mahle. 

I am going to back the Giants today to bounce back and avoid the sweep. Despite this little run, the Reds are still the Reds, and they have been a great fade for the majority of the season. I just do not think they will sweep a much better Giants team. Tyler Mahle has been one of the worst pitchers in the MLB at home this season, and I expect the Giants to grind out at-bats against Mahle that end up in runs. Alex Cobb, on the other side of things, should do just enough to keep them in this baseball game. He will not overwhelm you with his stuff, but he will be good enough to produce innings. I think the Giants will grind out an early win for us today!
