Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction

The Atlanta Braves are basically going with a bullpen game today. It'll be Spencer Strider on the mound for the Braves.

He has a 2.22 ERA on the season and an xFIP of 1.82 in the last 30 days. In those 30 days, he's also struck out 45.6% of batters and has walked just 5.3% of batters.

Strider likely won't earn as many strikeouts the deeper he pitches in this game. However, he's got a low WHIP and a lot of potential.

The Diamondbacks are currently only hitting 18.8% of line drives against righties with the projected lineup along with 48% of ground balls. Arizona has actually been a bit lucky with getting on base against righties and walking 9.5% of the time. However, against Strider, it's likely that walks will stay down.

On the other hand, Zac Gallen will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. He also has a 2.22 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, Gallen has had an xFIP of 4.13 with 24.6% of strikeouts and 5.1% of walks. He's also earned nearly 50% of ground balls and has allowed just 15.2% of line drives. Gallen has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year and will take on a Braves lineup that is striking out 28.7% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. We normally never see a Gallen start with an 8.5 total next to it, especially this season. So, therefore, I'm going to grab that under with Strider and Gallen on the mound. I also wouldn't even mind taking the Diamondbacks at +100 knowing Gallen is on the mound, at home. However, I do think Strider puts together a solid start, even if it's for three innings or something. I'll just ride with the under.
