There’s not much to like on the slate today but this is definitely a good one. The Dodgers are -335 tonight for good reason and it should be largely part to Walker Buehler. This line should be -150 or higher, so I feel like we’re getting extreme value. The Double Result or “First 5 Innings/Moneyline” has -165 odds which goes hand in hand with Buehler getting the win. Dumbing down this bet, we have one of the best teams in baseball at home against a bad team that is 8-13 on the road.
Getting these odds is such a steal, although Buehler hasn’t fully been himself he still has 6 wins in his 9 starts and Pittsburgh is one of his easier opponents yet. He has only pitched against Pittsburgh once but it was a gem of a performance allowing no runs through 7 innings and just 2 hits. Buehler has gotten a lot of public slack for “not looking himself” but even with that being the case he has a sub-three ERA which is pretty darn good. Dodgers definitely have both the pitching and batting advantage today so these odds make no sense for what we’re getting here.
On the bump for Pittsburgh is Zach Thompson who is struggling massively. The 28-year-old righty is especially bad on the road, he has a 7.5 ERA on the road this year in four games pitched. The kicker is, those four games are against the Tigers, Cubs, Reds, and Brewers. If he has struggled against those teams to the tune of a 7.5 ERA just imagine what this Dodgers lineup could do against him. He is yet to play the Dodgers but we can only imagine how bad he should struggle. The Dodgers are by far scoring the most runs in baseball with 5.57 a game and get a plus matchup today. We just need Buehler to throw 5 and leave with the lead, he doesn’t even need his best stuff. This bet is such good value and will likely be our only play of the day.
