Cardinals vs. Pirates Line Movement

St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres Prediction

Well, we will start our day off here in the Lou as I see value in this line and think the boys should be ready to get after this one today. St. Louis got blanked yesterday by the Brewers in the final game of that series but played an early game and are back home today. San Diego on the other hand just flew in from the west coast and played some bonus baseball at the end of their game yesterday.

Nolan Arenado sat yesterday so he’s in, and so is Pujols, Bader, and everyone else that should be ready to roll after getting blanked yesterday. The Padres bullpen has been worked lately so if the guys can get after Nick Martinez the pen should be exploitable. Packy Naughton has mostly been coming out of the bullpen this year so I am not entirely sure if they plan to stretch him out today but I am sure they want to. He’s a solid southpaw and historically is a starting pitcher; they have not used him since May 17 so if he is doing well, they will let him go as long as he can.

San Diego is talented, they should be able to get on the board today and the Cardinals are aware of that. Add in the poor game yesterday and a rookie on the mound looking for his first career win, and I think the birds show up today. They should. There is definitely value in the total. I think runs can be scored here and both teams can put them up in bunches but I just think St. Louis takes this game.

Look to get an alternate line of around 7.5 or so if you want to dabble on the total as a parlay piece -- I am, but for our official play on this one, I am backing the birds.
