Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers Best Bet: Will Eric Lauer Lay Down the Cubs Lineup?
I was going to just go with one Play of the Century today but if we're being honest, we've got another one. (Maybe even more.) And it is about as juicy as it gets. The juice drinkers need moves. They're bettors too. Being that I don't drink the juice too much it can be tough to find those wild -150 bets but I've managed to find another one. In fact, it's an easy one. Like ridiculously easy. The best part is, the game begins at 8:05 pm ET. It gives plenty of time for everyone to do whatever they need to do and then get to the television. If I had to guess, I'd say this bet gets cashed by the fifth inning which will be at roughly 9:25 pm ET. That makes this the perfect prime time move for tonight.

Eric Lauer Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-150) (Bet $150 to Win $100)
*Odds Available at FanDuel at Time of Publishing*
We're at FanDuel for this one because no other book has the stones to put a number up for the great Eric Lauer. It's disgusting. If we're being honest, I'm even thinking of a move on 7+ for +140. I'm just assessing exactly how much damage I want to do to the books tonight. It's still early in the week so we want to make sure they're still in business for the weekend.
Eric Lauer. I'm putting him in the borderline beast category. He's right there at this point. He's not exactly a strikeout guy but he isn't exactly not a strikeout guy either. In his career, he's got 422 strikeouts in 438 innings of work. I heard he did a little work in the offseason to help him sit more guys down and I think it worked. So far this season he's fanned 55 guys in 46.2 frames. We may be on the cusp of an Eric Lauer breakout season people.
What makes this bet a Play of the Century is the fact that Lauer has not been striking guys out recently. In fact, he's only struck out six guys in his last 12 innings of work. Don't be fooled by fake stats though people. Those innings came against the Cardinals and Nationals. Nobody strikes those guys out. Nobody. Everybody knows that. He still managed to whiff five Nationals so there is that to consider. This guy is a gamer.
Tonight Lauer will be throwing at a team that has fully embraced the strikeout. It's almost like they enjoy the act of being struck out. You don't see that a lot these days. On the season, only seven teams have struck out more than they have. The thing is, the Cubs have played fewer games than all of those teams. They have at least seven guys that could be in the lineup that have fanned at least 26% of the time in the last two weeks. Lauer is going to look like Nolan Ryan against these guys.
