Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

The San Fransico Giants and Philadelphia Phillies will take place from the city of brotherly love tonight for game two of this series. We cashed in on the HRE under yesterday for this game, and I found another angle I love for tonight’s game.

The Giants are fresh off their best season in team history during the regular season. They were led by a Herculiine effort by future Hall of Fame catcher Buster Posey paired with a bunch of guys who just played their role perfectly. The Giants came into the season expected to be a playoff team once again.

The Phillies also entered the season slated it be a playoff team, but it has not gone that way so far. The Phillies are sitting 10.5 games behind the New York Mets in the division. The issue for the Phillies has been their pitching. For multiple seasons, this has been their Achilles heel, and it has not been fixed yet. The bullpen has been inconsistent, and starting pitching has been up and down this year.

The bats started a bit slow for the Phillies, but they have been in better form the last month or so. The Phillies currently rank eleventh in baseball in runs per game, scoring 4.49 a game. The Phillies have also had a tough schedule so far and are much better than their record indicates. They have played the fourth hardest schedule in baseball, and their record should get better as the year goes on. 

I am backing the Phillies tonight on the first five innings moneyline. I simply do not trust their bullpen right now, but this is a really good spot to back Philly tonight. They are swinging the bats better than they were early in the year, and tonight, I think they hold the pitching advantage on the mound. Ranger Suarez gets the ball for the Phillies tonight, and he will need to be good against this Giants lineup, which has been a top-five offense in baseball to this stage in the season. I think the Phillies start to turn things around, beginning with a win for us tonight.
